While I applaud the filmmakers for taking on the subject matter, there are several flaws I cannot overlook. First of all the acting by the main Hostage Taker Doi, is terrible. Most of the time he has this sourpuss look on his face and its so obvious his accent is fake, its laughable. He's trying to act tough, but ends up looking stupid and laughable. Second this is supposed to be the largest hostage taking crisis in US history with 40 people captured but you'd never know it with only about 10 actors cast as hostages - I suppose for budget reasons. Finally while its great they got the red & grey 'good guys" color scheme right, they got a little sloppy and historically inaccurate in other areas. First off one of the hostages mentions getting a Playstation, which historically wound't come out in the US until 4 years after this movie took place. Secondly you'll see what are obviously several "AMAZON" shipping boxes in the store and backroom. Something else that would not exist for several years (and certainly not in a retail store like this).
Plot summary
An electronics store erupts into chaos as four young Vietnamese gunmen storm the premises, setting the stage for the largest hostage situation in US history. Rick Gomez, SAC PD's top hostage negotiator, quickly realizes that his job is not simply to talk down the gunman and keep everyone safe, but must also juggle the politics of an arrogant sheriff and a trigger-happy SWAT commander to prevent a national tragedy.

Falls way short...
Horrible on what could of been good.
Can't believe I watched the whole thing. Dumbass criminals meet amateur police with horrible scripting. The attempted subplots weren't well thought out, the original narrative made little sense scrambling across motives.
Stupid
If you are not white you have it hard? What a stupid movie. This is not what Sacramento was like during that time.
