I heard Alison live many years ago when she was in Empangeni doing a talk, what an incredible story, I purchased the book and was hooked, every time I need some inspiration I go back to the book and read it again.
This movie is just WOW, it is graphic about what happened it's based on fact. I can not imagine how she survived this attack but the movie allows you to hear Alison talk about what happened in her own words and and connect with all the people that assisted her.
Its a must watch!
Plot summary
Raped. Disemboweled. Nearly decapitated. Dumped on the outskirts of a nature reserve, dead - or so they thought. She needed a hero that night, so that's what she became. This is Alison's tale. A tale of monsters, miracles and hope.

As good as the book
Incredible story, well told
Watched on Prime as a random watch. What a fascinating story. I went to school with a girl who had the same last name too and was also South African.
I couldn't believe what Alison went through and somehow, with the help of G-d, survived such a horrific ordeal with the fight of a warrior.
This film had both my partner and I gasping at times as we couldn't believe it, it was almost too eerily fantastical. The ending almost made me throw my TV through my glass paneling. I resisted the urge with the ultimate outcome.
Excellent!
A very well directed piece of work, and a story for all who need inspiration. Hearing Alison Botha tell her version of events was chilling and sobering. This tale of survival is remarkable. The execution of the film was outstanding, and with its honest portrayal of events on the timeline (especially after the attack), it takes us into the beautiful direction of hope.
