While overall it was a nice movie to watch I do find it silly and at moments simply annoying.

Surprisingly it's mostly not the chauvinistic and racist professor, except in the first scenes (he shows surprising character growth), but the underdog. Not only was the plot extremely unbelievable (completely changing herself and a seemingly new skill (she should have already learned in the German school system, where debates are a mandatory part of the curriculum) in a matter of weeks) it also felt forced at certain points, especially her presented world view. She also aspires to be a lawyer, but can neither explain herself well nor is seen studying more than once. While she has a problem with everyday racism (as she should) she can't argue against it and instead just asks him to repeat himself, as if that would magically make him see his distorted world view. She also has a very altruistic and naive ideology, that not once gets disproven. She harms her own life and career and fails at the end just for plot points. In the end she is the reason why a still (if somewhat improved) professor keeps his job just because of a exception he made against his own will, goes against the overall wholesome (if repetitive) agenda.

Finally a nice, high-quality and funny movie with Christoph Maria Herbst, as "usual" with pithy sayings as a convinced cynic who says what many think, but above all Nilam Farooq does a really great job, she really inspired me. Although the main theme of racism, equal opportunities and prejudice uses the usual clichés, it succeeds here in an entertaining, funny and also touching way and lives from the dialog. Not over the top or silly, but addresses the seriousness in an ironic way. The setting of a university with a debating competition and the battle themes is refreshing. Really a nice surprise.
