Nothing great or meaningful here. Nobody is going to win any acting awards ...but this was enjoyable and watchable. No thinking required here; actually, the more you think about it, the less you will enjoy it.
Overall, a fun and enjoyable escape from reality.
TIP: MAKE SURE TO WATCH past the credits ...the movie continues for about another minute with an interesting clip.

Watchable and Enjoyable
Only a moron could not see beneath the surface of this film
This is a funny, not meant to be taken seriously serious film. Let the politically correct work that one out! I should hate the fact that it is a wish fulfillment film, complete with butch and passive Gays, and ditto for the delightful Lesbians, and that therapists are unfit because they seem shallow, but I don't. This is an exaggeration of the Gay world and it works. It is about as serious as ' Bringing Up Baby ' the Katherine Hepburn classic and just as funny. I even wrote some of the lines down they were so witty ( perhaps unprintable here ) and every shade of the Gay/Queer spectrum should bite the bullet if they have to and watch it. I saw it with French subtitles, which added to the fun. And the actor who played the so-called ( and offensively remarked upon on this site ) as a leering, lecherous old woman ( read the review ) gave a brilliant and moving performance. The sex is upfront and hilarious as well as being sexy and the acting throughout was spot on even down to the smallest roles. I loved the Gay twins in matching clothes looking for the same man to share, and the ventriloquist who did a pastiche of Norman Bates ( guess the film ) if any outraged reviewer does not know, and above all see beneath the L.A. surface. There is a mad reality in this film that I will watch many times when I am depressed, and I will not take it seriously seriously.
The difference between this and a straight romantic comedy....
Is probably ten or twenty million dollars. Meaning, better production values, better direction, script doctors, etc.
Rom coms are one tough genre for gay folk, evidently. There aren't many that succeed. This one doesn't either, but I can see how the script--which is pretty innocuous--almost makes it over the finish line. There are at least a couple of sharp lines in the movie, all delivered by the hardworking Jennifer Elise Cox.
I've come to the conclusion that it's a matter of money. There are plenty of straight rom coms that are much more watchable than this movie, but they aren't really any better. Throw a lot of money at a mediocre script and at least it's viewable. Is it really that simple?
This premise could have been sharp and original. But the writer and the director went for the obvious to make up for what the script lacked. And the result is overwrought and overacted and unnecessarily frantic. Too bad. It could have been good.
