This movie is pretty good, but speaking as an American who has lived in Turkey, this movie is a dramatization of a true story. While Turkey certainly has its problems with corruption, this movie is hardly something one should use to form an opinion on Turkey.

Unfair Depiction of Turkey
Mostly Fictional and Entirely Racist!
Let me evaluate this film as a Turk. First of all, it is obvious that it didn't bear the slightest intention to depict a real-life event objectively. The film was shot entirely in Malta and no Turk played in it. Naturally, I had difficulty understanding what the Turkish characters said in the film and missed most of the dialogues even after replaying. I didn't understand why they insisted that foreign actors speak Turkish.
In the film, not a few people but the entire Turkish nation is disparaged and insulted relentlessly from beginning to end. They are demonstrated as ruthless, xenophobic, squealer and animal killer. The screenplay is awful and evidently written by a racist. Briefly, this film is merely a projection of its makers!
I have never felt so many emotions before..
Wow. I watched this movie for the first time almost 2 years ago. It struck a cord with me, not really knowing much background before I started it. What a horrific situation to be in. It was very intense, and you were on the edge of your seat the entire time. I don't know why they don't make movies like this anymore. We have evolved but I will continue to what this for years to come.. one of the best.
