Sound quality very poor

It was difficult to understand the dialogue because of the poor sound quality. Additionally, there were no closed captions on Amazon Prime making it impossible to understand the movie. I am sure that it would have been very fun to watch but without being able to understand what was going on we ended up not watching the whole thing because it was just too frustrating to continue to the end. I am hoping that this review prompts someone at the production company to remix the sound and at least add closed captioning for the hearing impaired so that we can enjoy what others found to be a delightful movie.

Unexpected charmer

7.8 stars.

'Mixed Baggage' is the perfect title for a story of three mixed relationships. Not mixed by race, but it's about a group of people at several different stages of dating. The originality of the script continued to surprise me throughouth.

Who are the leads? There aren't any per se, although probably the two on the movie cover, but you'll see that they share about half the screen time, while each of the other couples shares a quarter each. And they are all involved in some way with each other, whether old friends, new friends, co-workers; they are intermingled and their interactions are entertaining.

This film is not your usual couple meets, couple has ups and downs, kiss - the end. No, this is about a guy and a gal that meet on an airplane and subsequently experience many coincidences that indicate they are fated to be together, but their own misunderstandings and lack of boldness get in the way time and again. The next couple, they've been together for 6 years, dealing with major hurdles, and the last couple are morphing from a professional relationship into a more romantic one and exploring options.

The dialogue is particularly refreshing and the characters bring the story to life. Everyone is unique and interesting, and there is a lot of good humor to experience; so don't miss 'Mixed Baggage'.

Very enjoyable rom-com

I enjoyed this movie as much as I have any rom-com in a while. The premise was a little unusual and creative. A guy and a girl experience a romantic connection with each other on a flight, and, though it appears that they might be ships that passed in the night, fate seemingly intervenes by having them switch bags. But this isn't really a tale about how the two of them reconnect, as that happens fairly early in the movie. It's about how the relationship between them develops.

The two main characters were both likable and believable. The dialog between them was real and natural, not the stilted, cheesy dialog that plagues many rom-coms. Leanne Lapp as Evie was great, coming across as nice and relatable, even though she's also gorgeous. Spencer Lord as Jake was even better, exuding a kind of shy, slightly awkward charm that's very endearing. You sincerely wanted both of these two to finally get together.

One of the things I liked best was that Evie and Jake's relationship wasn't always smooth. There were moments of awkwardness. The same was true of the other two couples in the movie. That seemed to be a theme of the movie, namely, that relationships won't always go smoothly, but that you shouldn't necessarily give up. If you use rom-coms as a template for reality, you might think that, when you find "the one", everything will go smoothly, but in the real world, that's almost never the case. In relationships, you have to be forgiving of your partners' weaknesses, and you can't expect everything to be perfect all the time. But that's no reason to give up on the relationship, necessarily.

If you are a fan of rom-coms, you will certainly enjoy this movie, and, if you are like me, you will appreciate that it is more original than most of the cookie-cutter offerings out there. With good writing and good performances, you've got a rom-com that will more than keep you entertained.
