As much of an abomination as the previous years, still not really an awards show, more of a concert show with political interference

Okay, here we have the 2023 Grammy ceremony from a few days ago (or nights ago) and this event still calls it self the biggest night of the year in music and this statement could not be any more ridiculous. But it's nothing new that those with no substance keep gloating and praising themselves to make others forget how terrible they are. This was really boring during its better moments and unwatchably bad during its worse moments. The show was really long, ran for almost three hours and this is without commercials, so if you take those into account as well, then we are probably close to four hours. It was the 65th edition of the event, so way older than half a century now, and this means that it has really decent history and tradition, but that makes it even more disappointing to watch what this show has turned into. Then again, it is no good that people from the glory days of the Grammys like Stevie Wonder are a part of these new editions as it is not the case that they make them better, but the truth is that the shows turn these older stars into string puppets rather. Anyway, the host here was Trevor Noah. I did not like him before this show and I do not like him after watching it either. He is just not funny. Admittedly, the lines about confident documents and Chinese balloons were kinda okay, but there were many examples of his hosting here where his line delivery was so awful that the audience did not even understand he just made a joke. But watching and understanding this was funny too, just not from the perspective he would have wanted it to be. One example is when he talks about quitting his job, which he just did. Another example was when he talked about singing in the shower and created a weird parallel between himself and Adele. Not even she laughed.

I guess Adele accepted it too because she got to know Dwayne Johnson earlier that evening. Not sure what this was about. Maybe it had to do with Johnson presenting an award to her later on. I have no idea. I also don't know why The Rock was even there. He probably knew people might ask that, so he started singing very briefly on stage. Oh boy. It's not that he was awful, but I still have no clue why he was there. Then again, the mysteries with these shows are always rather about the presence of certain people than about the absence. Wanna send a quick get well soon from here to Willie Nelson too. I was happy that he won a pretty big country category. Definitely a more heartfelt one than Noah's. Funny how people from these shows are always apparently so caring and all, but truth is they are not one bit. Anyway, speaking of ridiculous guests that night, let me add Joe Biden's wife. I think politics should not be a part of these ceremonies, but this is just my opinion. I mean it would have been tolerable if Mrs. Biden had at least delivered some class or quality or anything, but all she did was present a new oh so meaningful award linked to social aspects. Ridiculous stuff. They stuffed the show with nonsense like this and no surprise it runs for 180 minutes. One thing I always find interesting is the in-memoriam segment. I am not sure what to say here. It could have been worse, but it wasn't good either. It was fine they included more names than usual these days and I support that, but just shoving one song after the next to go with the images of the deceased did not feel right. Just pick one long number or have the songs at least some kind of connection, but it did not fit at all the way it was done here.

The embarrassing thing, however, is that the Grammys have so many categories and it is always unfair that many winners (and nominees too) are not even part of the broadcast. I read that a German DJ won a Grammy that night and it was in the headlines here because I am from Germany, but don't think I came across him during the broadcast. I mean it is bad enough already that many ceremonies just tell the names of the winners (and nominee) that they cannot include during the broadcast, but the Grammys don't even do that and they honestly say this is the greatest night in music? Most disrespectful night in music sounds more accurate. Just one more thing on Noah now, we saw Beyoncé win an award and he was there and literally held a speech in which he praised her. How ridiculous was that? Especially with a music icon that collaborated with Beyoncé on the winning song standing next to Noah and having to wait for him to finish before he could say something. Unreal stuff. Noah also decided it would be accurate if he himself announces the final category of the night. If he thinks so. I guess he is ready to get all the screen time he can nowadays that his show is over because he wants to make sure people don't forget him unless whatever else he does (and what will surely be equally bad) gets launched then. But how can I be surprised about how low he is. I mean he played tennis with Bill Gates. As for the rest of the show, there was so much wrong too. I liked Sam Smith once and I think he has a good voice, but by now he has also changed fully to generic mainstream pop music and political messages instead of focusing what he should focus on, namely making quality music. What a waste of talent. I still remember how much I cheered for him and his really awesome James Bond song back then when he was up at the Oscars against Lady Gaga.

Anyway, the show was overshadowed (and I do mean that in an as negative fashion as it sounds) by the constant praise of Beyoncé and how she could tie or even break the record for most Grammy wins. Embarrassing stuff. Of course she broke it and that felt rather scripted. I mean the entire idea too of her not being in the room right away was strange enough. Sure, she was still busy. That makes total sense. It got really ridiculous there when Noah started talking about the traffic and how it is not easy to get there to the arena as if it was some drama that she could break the record and not be there in person to accept the trophy. Well, she was there halfway into the show and ready to take her trophy than that got her in the lead. I'm sure she was already waiting backstage before that anyway, but oh well, keep the illusion, folks. It was funny though when Jay-Z was just very hungry and eating while Beyoncé was interviewed next to him. A bit of a lack of respect perhaps, but I always found them an odd couple, long before Jay-Z's cheating. The music they made together was also nothing special at all. I just think Beyoncé is very overrated in general and it says nothing positive about the Grammys if she holds the records of most trophies now. What I also found odd and disrespectful was that not on one single occasion they were talking about who held the record before her. I also don't think she mentioned during her speech whoever she overtook. At least, LeBron had the decency the other night to say something nice about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and I say that as somebody who does not like LeBron at all. Credit where credit is due though. No respect for Beyoncé's speech here and all the praise seems extremely exaggerated. She was solid during the Destiny's Child days back then and I liked many songs from that era basically, but you can say that her ego and also her mother's ruined the band sort of (regardless of her being or not being the only one who caused trouble there) and that says nothing positive about her at all. Her creative achievements as a solo musician are nothing special at all I would say. Good to see that she did not win the big categories towards the end then.

Not that the actual winners were better. Adele's song was okay I assume, but also lyrics-wise very shallow. The others were even worse. Harry Styles is so mediocre. If he's the icon representing this generation of young musicians, then oh boy are we in trouble. Things could not get any worse. Luckily, there are many better and far more talented musicians out there. You just have to look for them. They are not presented to you on the silver plate during shows like this. The likes of Styles and Swift and business models. Nothing more. Designed to trick the easily influenced and as the vast majority of mankind is pretty dumb, they easily accept these delusions as the truth. I am not even talking about children here. For those, I just feel awfully sorry what society does to them. This include the pandemic as well by the way. Pay close attention and you will see a company called Pfizer being mentioned here during the broadcast or we see the logo on the screen at least. Unreal stuff. Indirect vaccination propaganda during a music awards show where it does not belong one bit. Greatest night in music, ladies and gentlemen. This was really the moment when the show was at its most despicable, even if Mrs. Biden came relatively close with how she had absolutely nothing to add, nothing to deliver, nothing to contribute here. What a disgrace of an evening. This may sound rude, but it is the truth. There was also the same problem here that we have during the Grammys every year and also during other (music) awards shows. They include so many performance on stage and forget about the awards in-between. I think it was 20 minutes until the first award got announced and the show did not even end with an award. It ended with a music act performing on the stage. What a joke all this was. There was a lot more that went wrong. Impossible to mention everything, even if I have 10,000 characters at my disposal. With 10,000 words it would maybe be possible. I mentioned some of the politics in here already, but there was more. A female performer's also female partner announced her performance and they even brought their kids to the stage which I cannot be supportive of. Keep the children away from the show until they are old enough to decide if they wanna be a part of this charade. Aside from that, Madonna made be sad too. Okay, I stop now. You get the message. This was an awful even. Big thumbs-down.

This was so awesome

Another award show means more watching people stand up! Walk and take hold of a trophy. Nothing beats this.

About: Horrible modern day Musicans get rewarded for producing bad music for people who Like bad music.

Production: another superb production. Great scenery, seats and stage. It was great for horrible musicians to receive their reward.

Genre: Music, award

Highlight: Watching people walk and take hold of a trophy. Even if your music is bad you still may get. A trophy. That's great.

What can be learned?: make awful music. Don't work that hard, make the same music and you might make it to the big leagues. And get a trophy.

Should you watch this? Yes. Because bad music sells. Plus you get to see musicans you've never heard of and that may give up and coming Musicans hope. If they can produce hash and get a trophy. Then Anyone can do it.

Overall a great show...

The most satanic thing I've seen in years

Now I remember why I don't watch award shows. This was a painful disaster, made you wanna shower after. From the host, far left wing Tevor Noah who once described president Trump to "an evil, fat man in a bad toupee" to the most satanic peformance I've ever seen. Even worse than last year's show where the gay rapper gave Satan a lap dance! Comic Trevor Noah hosts the Grammy awards in Los Angeles, with top nominees including Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Adele, Brandi Carlile, Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled, Terius "The-Dream" Gesteelde-Diamant, Randy Merrill, and Harry Styles. Opened with a Latino dude called Little Doggie or Bow Wow or something doing a rap in Spanish that 83% of American's don't speak. The first performance was a gay cowgirl doing a bad rock cover. Then Harry Styles "sang" a really bad song. Really -- kindof tuned out after that mess. Was just holding out to see who won the rock award - Mr. Winter beat out Ozzy. Overall an awful time, would not recommend to anyone. Sponsored by the company of death, Phizer.
